Sophie is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Integrated Care, as well as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the McMaster Institute for Research on Aging. Her research focuses on the development, implementation, and evaluation of strategies to improve equitable access to community-based health care services for older adults.
Sophie recently completed a CIHR Health System Impact Fellowship jointly with Women’s College Hospital Institute for Health System Solutions and Virtual Care and McMaster University. She focused broadly on the intersection of home care and community support services, and equitable access to these services by underserved populations, particularly in light of the switch to virtual services as a result of public health measures during the COVID-19 pandemic. She holds a PhD from the School of Public Health and Health Systems at the University of Waterloo and has received national and provincial awards and funding for her work.
What motivates your work in integrated care?
“I have a heart for people, that each person would be seen, known, and cared for as a whole person. I am excited for the potential within integrated models of care to bring together individuals and systems to ensure that patients, families, caregivers and communities are embraced and empowered to support their health and wellbeing, as they define it for themselves.” - Sophie
