Health and Housing in the Community
Housing is a fundamental element of a person’s life. Housing encompasses living environments and living arrangements, affordability, stability, access to resources and services, as well as social supports ,and community belonging. Housing is more than a place to live. It is a place that shapes stability, safety, and access to care.
Dr. Chi-Ling Joanna Sinn leads the Housing and Health in the Community theme, conducting research across a variety of settings where housing and support services are co-located. The goal is to design, implement, and evaluate integrated care models that meet the needs of everyone across the housing continuum, especially those who are disadvantaged by systemic barriers. This includes :
Coordinating health and service delivery within congregate living settings and at the neighbourhood level
Strengthening links with community resources
Eliminating gaps in care transitions
Advocating for more equitable housing and health policies
