Gioia Buckley

Gioia is a senior university researcher and administrator who provides strategic and operational leadership for interdisciplinary research initiatives. She joined CIC in September 2024, where she oversees operations, finance, and human resources. As Managing Director of the OnSPARK LTC Data Platform, Gioia oversees the platform's operations, including human resources, financial management, strategic planning, and executive support.
Prior to joining CIC, Gioia spent 25 years at McMaster University's Centre for Health Economics and Policy Analysis (CHEPA), where she held the position of Research Associate in Health Economics. Her work spanned health economics and policy research, program leadership, and research administration. She provided strategic and operational leadership for large-scale research initiatives, worked closely with provincial government ministries on policy and program consultations, liaised with research funders and sponsors, oversaw financial and administrative operations, and fostered partnerships across academic, government, healthcare, and community sectors.
Gioia holds an Honours Bachelor's degree in Economics and Commerce from the Università degli Studi di Perugia, Italy, and a Master of Arts in Economics from McMaster University.
